“Muthana Pathu Kathikal – Collection of short stories”

Stories that relate us with the incidents that we had experienced or heard from our friends and relatives, have been beautifully created and complied. The way of the narration is varied and unique for each story. The common aspect that connects almost all the stories is the Tamil Brahmin dialect, which is very sweeter to read.

Also, the slogans / short poem verses proclaim the poetic talent of the author. Each story reminds us certain values that we need to uphold / overturn in our life and hence it is an important collection for all ages. The story also reminds some of our traditional values, which we have forgone due to westernization. It’s very irony that the collection started with plant theme and ended with the plant related theme.

I sincerely thank and wish the author, Ms.Sripriya Rajagopalan for her thought-provoking collection of story contribution and for being a great observer and taking notes on subtle changes around her and translating into an appealing story.

Review about அகல் விளக்கு கவிதைத் தொகுப்பு

“Agal Vilakku” to symbolize that the collection is not as big as the sun that illuminate to serve all the people in need, but a small lantern which brightens to lit up a small section of the needy.

Even though traditional Akal Vilakku has been replaced in many traditional events with LEDs, the poet has used the term to remind us about our culture that we need to uphold. This Akal Vilakku is not small lamp that try to illuminate the near surroundings, but has touched all the themes that we encounter in our life (A collection of 55 Kavithaigal).

There is a diversity in the structure, flow of language and the theme, used in the poem. There are 3 lined short poems, a paragraph poem, one-page poems and two paged poems all drafted with one intention of reflecting societal issues and the immediate need of correcting human mistakes. The selection of words varied according to the poets’ intentions – loving, soothing, commending, angry and exhibits the skill and ease of word usage by the poet.

It’s a collection that can nurture life skills among the young generation and reflect the experience of the previous generation. To sum up, it’s a collection that has been treasured for all generations.

I sincerely thank and wish the author, Ms.Sripriya Rajagopalan for her continuous effort in proclaiming the negative actions of the human without any fear, and for listing out the values that are to be instilled in each one of us. Hope your voice would be heard by many and bring remarkable changes in the society.
